What are Nursing School Clinicals Like? Do You Get Paid for Clinicals?

I am currently a freshmen in my second semester finishing my pre-requisites before I apply to nursing school. I will apply to the nursing program the last semester of my sophomore year.

So EXCITED!!

I was wondering what clinicals were like in nursing school? Like what do you get to do, how are the hours, will it help make me a good nurse? Also, do you get paid for clinicals? I hope so because that would be awesome.

No you do not get paid for nursing clinicals. I wish! If you did I would have some good money right now because I have done a lot of clinical hours. I have enjoyed my clinicals so far. I am doing an ICU rotation and I have seen everything from a gun shot wound to a crazy car accident. I have got to start many IVs and mess with arterial lines. You will learn a lot in your nursing clinicals and remember to try to jump at every opportunity they offer you. You will get as much out of clinicals as you put into it.

Clinicals are fun and a lot better than being in the classroom. My favorite rotation was labor and delivery. You should have a rotation in this area. I got to see a vaginal birth and C-section. Pretty cool 🙂 You will love them.
