Does an RN with an Associate make the same as one with a BA?

Hi, I would like to know if a RN with an Associate makes the same as a RN with a Bachelors?

I graduated in 2010 with my BSN and was hired at the same rate as a nurse with an ADN which when I found out made me unhappy. So yes I would say starting out they make the same which is silly. Here is a great article on if having an associate degree in nursing compared to a bachelors degree limits you:

Patty I agree it isn’t fair and I was shocked to find that out as well. I think since the BSN completes more prep work they should start out making more even if it is only 2% difference.

Well it depends because hospitals are really pushing for nurses to have bachelors degrees. If the legislating nursing bodies had it their way they would phase out the associates degree but they never will because the demand for nurses is so high and people like that they can become a nurse in less than 2 years compared to four. But Ange, if you plan on going into management like becoming a nurse manager or educator you will need a BSN.
