I am an RN licensed here in Michigan, I was in a roll over car accident in 2012. In December 2012, due to the accident I haven’t practiced nursing. My question is how do I return to nursing practice now? Where does a nurse like myself find a nursing review program so I can return to practice safely and confidently?

Toni,
Very sorry to hear about your accident. I am glad to hear you are trying to get back into practice. Is your nursing license still active? You didn’t specifiy so I am going to assume it is. I think you are asking about how to brush up your nursing practice skills since you have been out of practice for 2 years right? If you license isn’t active I would email the state board of nursing in Michigan and ask them what you have to do. They will probably tell you to take some education courses.
Here is their contact information:

I really recommend you take some RN continuing education courses which are review nursing programs that will help get you up to speed. I have done it before and find them very useful because I work in an area where I don’t get a lot of exposure to new drugs or procedures so I take them to brush myself up. They are offered online and you get credit for them that you can apply to your state board of nursing educational requirements.
Since you have been out of practice for 2 years the Michigan state board of nursing may require you to obtain an x amount of continuing education before you go back to practice. I recommend the website RN.com (that is the one I have used…there are other good ones)…they actually have some free ones at times and some of the others cost money.
But you shouldn’t have too much trouble and as a side note…when you get hired I would ask your employer to give you so orientation times atleast 2 weeks minimum.
Good luck 🙂

Thank you so much. Yes my license is still active and in good regard. I already do belong to RN.com. So I am confident that is a good place to continue to review for re-entry to our profession. Thank you so much.
