Hi, I already have a Masters in Human Services and would like to change careers and become an RN, should I get an Associate in Nursing or a Bachelor.

Hey Ange! Are you familiar with the accelerated nursing programs for people like you would already hold a degree. I think you can get your BSN in about 2 years with these programs, which is how long an associates would take. I would check them out. So I would say get a Bachelor Degree in Nursing. What state do you live in?

Are there any accelerated programs for the associated in nursing?
Jamie says
That’s a good questions which I didn’t know and had to look up. There are indeed accelerated associate degree programs for nursing. I was looking at one program and it only takes 14 months. So Ange it really depends on what degree type you prefer. Here are the differences between an AND and BSN degree: https://www.registerednursern.com/adn-or-bsn-nursing-degree-what-is-the-difference-between-adn-bsn-programs/

Cool! I think I may be looking into that. Thanks for the article.

I say get an associate degree. It is faster and cheaper. However if you want to go into management as a nurse you will need to have a bachelors degree. But if you just plan on working in a clinical setting as a floor nurse get an Associates degree.
Trish says
Yeah Jamie is right about those accelerated programs so it make more sense for you to get a bachelors degree, especially since you already have a masters.
