In to become a rn you first have to finish high school and then apply to a college with a nursing program. It will take you anywhere from 2-4 years in the nursing program to get a nursing degree. Then once you graduate you have to take your nursing state boards called the NCLEX and after you pass this licensing exam you become a registered nurse (RN).

Tashya, what specific questions do you have regarding becoming a rn? I could say so much about it but wouldn’t have room here lol. If you could give us specific questions we may be able to give you some answers you are looking for.

I am almost a registered nurse and so glad I choose to purse it because you are limitless on what you can do. You can become a school nurse or do some other type of nursing such as home health nursing. It is a very versatile career. This site does have some great material on how to be a rn. Here are some articles I recommend:

Different types of nursing specialties: https://www.registerednursern.com/nursing-nurse-career-salary-education-specialties-information/

    Salary information: https://www.registerednursern.com/registered-nurse-rn-salary-pay-wages-and-income-of-registered-nurses/

    Common nursing school questions: https://www.registerednursern.com/nursing-school-tips-questions/

Interview with a registered nurse on how she likes her job: https://www.registerednursern.com/interview-with-a-registered-nurse-interview-questions-to-ask-a-nurse/

Great book on how to become a nurse: https://www.registerednursern.com/nursing-school-books/

I hope this helps. I am addicted to this site lol so I have read almost every article on here.

Krystal-also a nursing student (but not for long) like Jamie (graduate this Saturday woohoo)

I would like to add to the comments about entrance exams for nursing school. I figured I would say something about them since you would like to know everything about nursing.

Tashya if you plan on entering nursing school you will have to take some type of entrance exam so I suggest you brush up on your math, reading, and verbal testing skills. When I applied to nursing school I had to pass the HESI entrance exam. I don’t know which one you will have to take because this depends on your nursing school.

I have been a nurse for about 1 year and love it. The first year was a little overwhelming because I was a new nurse grad trying to learn everything but eventually it clicked after about 6 months. I love the fast pace environment and interacting with patients.

      Hey Deborah!

Welcome to the site! What state do you live in? I know in my state there are several universities that have BSN and ASN programs for LPNs. They are normally called LPN to RN programs.
