How much money do certified nurse midwives (CNM) make hourly and yearly? This depends on what state the nurse midwife works in. Geographical location plays a vital role in determining how much a CNM makes because it is determined by the state’s costs of living factors. For instances, a certified nurse midwife who lives in a Tennessee can expect to earn around $34.08 an hour and $70,890 a year compared to a certified nurse midwife who lives in Florida earning $42.13 an hour and $87,620 a year. The cost of living in Tennessee, especially the rural areas, is less expensive than the cost of living in Florida, especially in areas such as a Miami and Orlando.
