Prerequisites for Nursing School

I am wanting to start a nursing program and the deadline to apply and have everything completed is August 2015. I already have a bachelors degree in an unrelated field so the required classes to apply I am taking now. I have 7 classes left, all are science classes including A&P 2, chemistry and microbiology.

Do you think it would be wise to try and take the 7 classes in 2 semesters (spring and summer). If I do not make the August 2015 deadline I will have to wait till August 2016 to apply. I should also mention I work full-time. Thank you so much for any insight you can give me.

Stefanie

    Hey Stefanie!

I think you could absolutely do it and I definitely would since if you don’t meet the deadline you will have to apply in 2016 (that is a long time away).

I would take 4 classes in the spring and 3 in the summer and break up the hard classes (don’t take them all together). For instance, I would take A & P and microbiology different semesters. Plus be sure you research your professors because a hard professor can make or break you grade.

RatemyProfessor.com is a great website to help you find professors that are easy. Go to the website and put in your school and find the teacher you want to take. I used this website all through my college days.

Thank You so much. So I’m thinking A&P 2, Chemistry, Sociology & Nutrition for the spring. Then the summer have Microbiology, computer literacy course and Psyc 2. Does that sound good or would you move it around?

      Thank You!
      Stefanie

You’re so welcome 🙂 That sounds great and I think that will work good for you. I think your hardest classes with be A & P and Micro. If you notice you start having issues with the classes I would look into study guides. I know the company Prentince Hall makes really good study guides for those classes (you can get them at most book stores or Amazon.com) I used a study guide for Micro. Good luck and I wish you much success!
