Plan on Going to Nursing School but I’m a Slow Learner

My question has to do with me. I’m kind of a slow learner and can’t really pernounce a lot of big words that I’m not really familiar with. I’m sure I can learn RN things, but I’m just scared it will take me a long time and that I will fail all the time.

I have some trouble reading some complicated words in English. I’m planning on going for a RN but I’m kind of nervous. What do you personally recommend?

    Carla,

I understand what you are saying. Many people are so nervous about nursing school because it can be challenging. Nursing school really doesn’t require you to know huge words and plus you will learn them over time. Many people are just like you and have trouble with them but over time you will learn them. It takes practice.

My recommendation for you since you are a slow-learner is try going to nursing school part-time so you don’t have to take as many classes as once. I think what made nursing school so hard for me was that I had to take so many classes at once. I knew a girl who switched to part-time and she found it easier. Also, if going part-time isn’t an option maybe you should look into some remedial courses to help re-fresh what you learned in high school before you go to nursing school or invest in a tutor while in nursing school. I would be sure you try to attend any type of study groups available while in nursing school.

Carla, don’t let anything hold you back. If you want to be a nurse, do it. Nursing school really isn’t that hard as long as you want it. Many people who don’t pass nursing school or do well in it, is because they weren’t serious about it and didn’t find it as a calling.
