Nurse Practitioner (NP) Salary by State 2012 | How Much do Nurse Practitioners (NP) Make?

So, how much do nurse practitioners (NPs) make a year? This depends on what state you live in. For instances, a nurse practitioner who works in Hawaii can expect to make $ 50.33 an hour compared to a nurse practitioner who works in Arkansas making $ 41.30 an hour. Geographical location and the cost of living play an important role in determining yearly salaries for nurse practitioners.

Nurse practitioners (NPs) are advanced practicing registered nurses who have completed extra schooling after receiving their bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN).  Most nurse practitioners hold a master’s degree (MSN) or doctorate degree (DSN). For details on educational requirements to become a nurse practitioner see our “How to Become a Nurse Practitioner” article.
