How to Make Homemade Tomato Soup

This recipe is for making Homemade Tomato Soup. This recipe taste way better than the store brought tomato soup in a can. It is something that the whole family will love and it is perfect to eat on a cold rainy day. This is also a great snack for nursing students who are in-between classes, or for break while at work on your nursing shift.

Canned soup purchased at stores can sometimes have excess amounts of sodium in it, and by making your own soup at home, you can avoid the sodium and other additives.

This recipe makes cooking Tomato Soup easier than ever and this recipe can be made right in the microwave. Not only does making this recipe in the microwave eliminate cleaning up a mess but it makes cooking faster and easier. Here is the step-by-step instructions on how to cook Homemade Tomato Soup:

Ingredients for  Homemade Tomato Soup:

  • 1 28 ounce can of Whole Tomatoes
  • 2 Tablespoons of chopped onion
  • 2 Teaspoons of Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon of Salt
  • 1/8 teaspoons of pepper
  • 3 Tablespoons of butter
  • 3 tablespoons of all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups of milk

Begin by combing whole tomatoes, chopped onions, sugar, and salt & pepper together in a microwavable bowl. Microwave this on HIGH for 15 minutes.

Then remove and drain off the tomato juice and set aside. Mash up remaining tomatoes and remove seeds if desired. Then in a small dish melt butter in the microwave on HIGH for 15-30 seconds or until melted.

Then combine flour, the set aside tomato juice, and milk into the melted butter and microwave on HIGH for 5-8 minutes until it is thick (stirring ever so often).

Then remove from microwave and stir in mashed up tomatoes and cook on HIGH for 2 minutes. Then let cool and ENJOY!! Best served with- grilled cheese sandwich, salad, crackers, or rolls.
