How to Make Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits

Here is a great recipe on how to make homemade buttermilk biscuits. These biscuits are very easy to make and will have the people who eat them thinking that you slaved all day cooking them. This recipe calls for very simple ingredients that can found right in your kitchen. This recipe is easy to follow and is sure to please the family!

This tasts great for breakfast, and also for lunch if served with a country dinner.

Ingredients for Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits:

  • 2 Cups of Self-Rising Flour
  • 1/4 Teaspoon of Baking Soda
  • 1/2 Cup of Shortening or Melted Butter (works better)
  • 1 Cup of Buttermilk

Begin by preheating the oven to 450’F. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking soda and melted butter/shortening. Add buttermilk; stir with fork until mixture leaves sides of bowl and forms a soft, moist dough. On a floured surface, toss lightly until no longer sticky. Roll out 1/2-inch thick and cut with 2-inch floured cutter. Place on un-greased cookie sheet. Bake for 8 to 12 minutes or until light golden brown. This recipe makes about 12 to 14 biscuits.

Then ENJOY! Best served with your favorite jam or jelly!
