Are Nursing Schools Allowed to Change the Nursing Guidelines for TEAS Test?

I applied for the nursing program in spring 2013 and took the TEAs test in November 2013. I scored below the required score for that school. On the 2013 application guideline, it stated that students who score below the required score only need to take a course to be in the RN program.

In December 2013, the nursing dept revised the application and stated that if students score below the required score they had to retake the TEAs test. The nursing dept says I need to retake the test and go by the new guildeline for 2014. It`s much easier if I take the course than retaking the TEAs test again. Am I able to argue and go by the guidelined in 2013? Or does the nursing dept have the right to change the guidelines anytime they want and force every student that apply the year before to follow the new guideline?

So sorry to hear that about them changing the guidelines that totally sucks! I am like you and would rather take a course than retake that exam. I had to take HESI exams which are like the TEAs exam and it sucks!

You can always try to debate with them about it but since you failed the first time and they changed the guidelines I think you may be stuck having to retake the exam. I remember my nursing program doing something like this and they made the class under me adopt the new guidelines.

I would just try really hard to study for it. I have heard of people buying the TEAs study guide made by the company and it really helped them pass. Have you tried that before? Or are there any other nursing schools in your area that doesn’t require the TEAS?
