As an entreprneur, you will often become discouraged at the obstacles you face. Succeeding in business is ABSOLUTELY possible. However, I can guarantee that EVERY business will have its share of obstacles, failures, frustrations, & setbacks.
So since failures & obstacles are almost a guarantee, let’s discuss how you can overcome these obstacles & finally achieve the success you are working so hard to acquire.
How to Overcome Obstacles & Succeed in Business
Every great entrepreneur that has ever became wealthy or successful in business has also experienced great difficulty on his or her journey. This is normal. This is also why many new entrepreneurs give up so easily. They fail, and then think to themselves…”well gee this is hard & I failed so maybe I should give up & go work for someone my whole life.”
Well, if you are a true entrepreneur, you will probably bounce back as soon as you realize that you hate working FOR people. Entrepreneurs aren’t very happy working FOR people, although they will always be happy to work WITH people (customers, partners, etc.).
As an entrepreneur, you must learn the simple fact that failures will happen often! Whether it is when you are starting a business (license problems, zoning, etc.), or lawsuits, or slow sales (or no sales), or lack of capital, or cranky customers, charge backs, theft, or tax problems, or whatever! Just accept the fact right here & right now that you are going to have problems. SERIOUSLY-say it to yourself or write it down right now that you are going to have hard times. However, you are not alone…
Henry Ford attempted to start Ford Motor company 2 or 3 times before the business actually succeeded. Then he became one of the richest men in America.
Sam Walton’s lease ran out on his first store (a Benjamin Franklin Franchise store) after working hard for 5 years to build it up. Then, the landlord refused to renew his lease-leaving him no other option than to relocate. He was devastated because it meant starting again from scratch, but learned a valuable lesson & remembered it when he became a billionaire from Wal-mart.
Before Richard Branson earned his billions, he was arrested for avoiding an import tax on the records he was importing & reselling. He had to mortgage his house to pay the fines.
Steve Jobs was fired from a company that he & his friend started-OUCH! Only to bounce back a few years later & become the CEO of it & make millions from the Apple Ipod.
It took Ross Perot 78 calls to get his first “yes” from a customer when he started the EDS company. He later went on to make billions with it.
And there are tons of stories just like the ones above. Every other great entrepreneur has also struggled just like you will. They have thought about giving up (and some did temporarily). They have cried (I know I have during the rough times).
But all of these entrepreneurs have one thing in common! They followed their instincts they DID NOT let their failures permanently stop them. They learned to bounce back, to push forward, and to overcome everything that got in their way on their journey to success!
My friend, you must also do the same. When you experience a big fat failure, get sad, get mad, and then get over it. Move on and don’t let that one mistake or failure stop you. Instead learn from it.
Learn to say to yourself- “You know what, this is hard but I can do it. I can find another way, I can overcome this. I can make this work somehow because I believe in it.”
If you really give your business everything you’ve got- I mean all of your passion, all of your creativity, all of your personality, all of your faith, all of your heart, and all of your mind–then you will succeed. But please notice one thing….I NEVER ever said it was easy! I NEVER said that you wouldn’t have failures.
But when you run into these, remember the greats that went before you & suck it up! You can do it if you don’t give up. You may have to make changes, you may have to find new ways. You may even have to start new businesses or find partners.
Always remember that you can’t win at a game if you never play, and you can’t succeed in business if you never try. Trying at least gives the possibility of success.
It only takes one time of being right, one time of being successful, to become a millionaire.
Even if you fail 99 times, say to yourself “I now know 99 ways this won’t work, not what is the one way it will work.” Find what you are doing wrong, and work to make it right!
Even the Bible says, “Seek & you will find, knock & it will be opened unto you, ask, and you will receive.”
Good Luck & God Bless You on Your Journey!
