Free eBay auction templates can be a great way to spruce up your listings. eBay once released a study that showed that those who used a template (or design) with their listings had a higher chance of making a sale (I think it was between 3-10% more likely). This means that by taking a few extra seconds to use a free auction template, you could be making more in sales each month.
Options in Using eBay Auction Templates
Obviously you have several options when it comes to finding a template design you want. First, you can pay for one on eBay itself. This is fairly cheap (around $0.10-0.30 at the time of this writing). The upside is that it is fairly quick to click a template and use it. The downside, of course, is that if you sell on high volume, that’s going to quickly add up to tens, hundreds, or even thousands of dollars from your bottom line.
This may be okay for the occasional seller, but for those doing high volume, this just won’t work. Instead, you can easily design (or find) a free template to use with your eBay auctions.
Free eBay Auction Templates
There are lots of ways to get a free eBay auction template. First, you can visit one of the more popular websites that offer these (such as auctiva.com, or others). The only downside is that some require you to setup an account. Others may place a text link back to their own websites or eBay pages. Thus, some of the visitors to your eBay page may leave your page and visit the person’s website.
The ideal method is really to create your own listing. The best way to do this is to get a basic template from a free website, find your free background picture, and then simply host the background picture using a free hosting site such as photobucket.com. We have a neat software tool (WYSIWYG HTML editor) that can easily help you design the basic table layout structure of a template. Be sure to read about that software if you are interested in creating your own templates at no cost.
This is a html code tutorial for how to create eBay listing. If you are completely new to HTML, then you are probably already getting frustrated. Html is probably the easiest computer language to learn, but it is difficult for everyone at first.
In this basic tutorial, we will try & cover the basics on how to use html codes to make your eBay auction listings stand out from the competition!
How to Use HTML Codes on eBay
HTML simply stands for Hypertext Markup Language. It is a computer code that internet browsers(such as internet explorer, mozilla, firefox, etc) use to read & display information about the design of a web page according to the coding. Every web page you view online (including this page) is made up of html codes.
When you view a page of html, the browser only displays what the codes tell it to display. For example, the size & color of this text you are reading right now is 10pt, black, and verdana font. I had to write an html code so it would show up this way.
Every portion on this page (bold text, links, tables & layout) was designed using html codes. You can take advantage of HTML to add things such as html marquees, text codes, & more to make your listings stand out from the competition.
eBay will allow you to enter your own html codes when you make your listing description. This is great because it means you can do much more than what eBay’s normal designs will allow you to do.
To get started, you will first want to look at our html codes section. This section contains several html codes that you can use on websites, eBay listings, & much more. We have codes for text, codes for images, & much more.
Once you find some codes you are interested in using in your listing, you will simply insert that code into your eBay listing. Here is what you need to do:
First, to use an html code, you will need to insert the code in the description using the HTML tab where you create your eBay listing. Here is a picture of the HTML tab in eBay below:
Now, to add an html code, you will click the html tab as pictured above. For this example, I will show you how to add an html marquee code.
Now that you know where the html tab is on eBay, you can start using any of the html codes to add neat designs to your listings. For this example, I will show you how to add a marquee.
To add a marquee, simply go to our html marquee page. Then find the marquee you want to use. I will use a simple marquee that scrolls from left to right for this example. So I will use the marquee below from our marquee page. The marquee’s code is in a simple copy & paste box as shown below. On the left side, you can see what the marquee will do. On the right side, it has the html code that you use to make a marquee.
Marquee That Scrolls Left |
So to use this code, I will type what I want the code to say where it says YOUR TEXT HERE above. I will type “buy it now for 5.99” for the example. So to get the marquee to say that, I will type “buy it now for 5.99” in place of where it says YOUR TEXT HERE. So the code should read this below:
Okay, now that I have my marquee made up, it is time to put it in my eBay description. So go to eBay.com & sign in to your seller’s account. Go to make the description & use the html tab that I showed you on the previous page.
Now, select the code above & copy this code into eBay’s HTML section. You can copy the code anywhere you want it to show up in your listing.
After you paste the code into eBay, switch back to the “Design View” by clicking the Design tab. The design tab is located beside the HTML tab that I showed on the previous page. Then, you can finish making your listing like normal. The marquee will now show up in eBay’s standard description view, however, the marquees usually do not scroll or move until you submit your listing.
You can use the same methods for all of the other html codes. You can use as many as you would like to design your listings.
