I failed the NCLEX-RN first try last month and will be taking it again. I am so depressed about it especially since all of my friends passed. I am so embarrassed really and feel like a failure. I am questioning if I should have even went to nursing school. I dread taking it again and having to pay for it again because it is so expensive.
I studied really hard (well I thought I did any ways). I even done practice questions over and over like everyone says to. What book did you use to study and how many practice questions did do before you took the test? Also did you pass first try and if you didn’t was the NCLEX harder the second time?

I passed the first try with just 75 question…..thought I would have died right there in the seat if I had to answer any more questions. Sorry you didn’t pass but I wouldn’t give up hope. Many people don’t pass the first try. What book did you use? I used the Saunders Comprehensive book. I was really good. Gosh, I don’t know how many question I answered…probably 1000s. I think that is the best way to study. Have you considered a NCLEX course?

Thanks Jeanine for your reply. I haven’t tried Saunders but I know many people who have. I was using an NCLEX book by Kaplan. It is good but not that great since I didn’t pass lol. I am going to give that book a try. Does it come with practice questions and rationales?

I did not pass the first time but passed a second time. See the area of your strength and concentrate on areas of your weakness as more questions came from there. I took a review class for 21 days in class of 24 people , fasted and praying for my exam, and pass at 75 questions… Good luck!
