Hey Everyone,
I received another “ask me a question” and this one comes from Nicole and here is what she asked:
“Hello there, I have a nursing school interview on Monday. I am soooo excited just wondering if you had an interview and what to expect. Also, should I let them know I applied to other schools? Dealing with that question”
Nicole, thank you so much for your question. First of all, good luck with your interview! You are about to embark on the most amazing, challenging but fun journey of your life. I personally have not had to attend an interview for nursing school per se BUT I recently went to an interview for a job as a Registered Nurse RN. So I can give you some tips on what to expect. An interview is an interview and they usually ask the same questions but apply it to what your applying for.
I recently received a similar question a couple of weeks ago about this topic. In the post it has some common interview questions and how to approach an interview. CLICK HERE TO GET IT.
So here are some tips: Dress professionally (slacks, below the knee skirts, khakis, blouse), don’t over do the make-up, perfume, or jewelry, no gum, turn off your cell phone, bring a copy of your transcript, a copy of your resume (1 page concentrate on your volunteer work, work history, and schooling…GPA.etc). Be prepared for questions like “where do you see yourself in 5 years?”, “what are you current goals?”, “what do you feel you can offer to the nursing profession?”, “why did you choose to pick nursing as your career?”, “what qualities do you possess that will help you as a nurse?”…etc
Now to your question on if you should tell them if you are applying to other nursing schools. This is my opinion and this question really doesn’t have a yes or no answer. I would only bring it up if they asked you because if I were interviewing for a job I wouldn’t just bring up I have other interviews unless the employer bluntly asked me. But it all depends on what you want to do and how you feel about it.
Nicole I wish you the best of luck and thank you again for your question. If you have any other questions don’t hesitate to hit me up.
Until next time,
Sarah
