Are you getting financial aid for nursing school? Well I did, and here is my experience with it.It’s Monday, and school starts two weeks from today. I was hoping to already have everything thing in order for school. For instance, my tuition would already be paid and my financial aid would be good to go which it should be already by now but there are some set backs.
My Process of Getting Financial Aid in Nursing School
I was getting a little worried because in June I got an award from my school’s financial aid office giving me my grants for nursing school, which is about the right time but I noticed that the lottery scholarship wasn’t on there for me to accept. However, I had seen on a separate sheet of paper that the award letter for the lottery would be mailed out in mid-July.
Well, here comes mid-July and nothing. I was like, “Well, I’ll give them until the beginning of August and see if I get in the mail.” Nothing again!! I was getting really worried because that financial aid office has screwed up my stuff way too much in the last four years.
Let’s see: they have lost my papers (which contained my social security number, address, and a bunch of other important info that thieves love), they have audited me 3 times, sent my important documents to my mother’s house (who is very nosy and opens my mail….when I ask her why it is open she lies and says “Oh, it was already open”), and a bunch of other things.
So I was really worried that they forgot to review me for the lottery scholarship and I would have to go through a headache of trying to fix it. So today I called them and I was on hold for 1 hour and 20 minutes according to the timer on my phone. I am not exaggerating…I truly was on hold for that long.
I called at 8:30 am thinking well they won’t be that busy since they just opened and I should get right through. Nope…instead I had to hold!! And I swear if I had to hear that stupid recording “Thank you for holding..you call is important to us…and we are sorry you are experiencing any delay…Please stay on the line.” I was going to scream. I think during the whole 1 hour and 20 minutes I was holding it played it every minute which means I heard it almost 80 times. I can still hear her voice in my head!
Once I finally got through, the lady explained that they were having to review all of the people who were getting the lottery scholarship because the state of Tennessee just changed the requirements and I should hear something Thursday. So hopefully I will!
Update: I got my financial aid and all is good to go!
While Ben has been on his diet I have been dying to eat some junk food. The gluten & diary free diet is just too hard for me. So I broke down and fixed me some Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies. It is a recipe my mamaw gave me when I went to visit her and they looked awesome. They are chocolate cookies with reese cup chips in them. Yeah very bad for you but not if you eat them in moderation right? LOL
Stuff you need for the cookies: 1/3 cup of olive oil, 2 eggs, 1 package of Devil’s food cake mix, 10 ounces of Reese Chips
Take all of it and mix it together. Then form it into 24 medium sized balls like below:
BAM…bake at 350’F for 12 minutes and the final product!
These were really good but now they are gone =-( Oh well, I will make more again some time! Well until next time…
Sarah =o)
