Hello Everyone,
I got my second “Ask Me a Question”….woohoo keep it up every one! I am loving it! This question comes from Sheryl and here is what she asked:
“Hello I love your web site. This is the first time I have visited. My question is can Certified Medical Assistants Travel Too? Thanks is Advance!”
Certified Medical Assistants Travel Jobs Possible?
The simple answer to this question is, Yes!! These positions are usually filled very quickly but are still possible to find. In order to find available positions I suggest going to monster.com, careerbuilder.com, or search your local newspaper to see if any agencies are hiring for CMA travelers. Also, I have noticed that people doing travel jobs tend to get a higher rn salary.
So what is a Certified Medical Assistants anyways you may ask? A Certified Medical Assistant, long for CMA, can be unlicensed or licensed assistant who works under the supervision of a licensed professional such as a doctor, RN, or nurse practitioner. In order to get a job as a CMA, facilities like for you to be certified which means you successfully completed and passed an exam to get the credentials as a CMA usually through the American Association of Medical Assistants, AAMA.
Here are a list of some of the duties a CMA performs: answering telephones, greeting patients, updating and filing patients’ medical records, filling out insurance forms, handling correspondence, scheduling appointments, arranging for hospital admission and laboratory services, and handling billing and bookkeeping. Clinical tasks (some of these tasks require you to get further certification and depends on your state laws): collect and prepare laboratory specimens or perform basic laboratory tests on the premises, dispose of contaminated supplies, sterilize medical instruments, draw blood, taking blood pressures, and giving injections…etc
Sheryl I hope this answered your question 🙂 Thanks again for it and good luck!
Until next time,
Sarah 😉
