Hey Leticia! Did you mean how do I maintain a job while going to Nursing School or obtain a job while going to nursing school? I’m confused. I think you meant maintain so I will answer it accordingly. First of all, it is hard to go to school full time and maintain a full time job especially when you start having to complete clinical hours. Do you only support yourself or do you have to support children as well?
I say if you only support yourself work only as much as you need to get by because it is almost impossible to work full time at 40 hours a week, go to classes, complete clinical hours, and then study. What I done was work about 20 or less hours a week and during breaks I worked full time. I cut my expenses and lived a lot off of Ramen Noodles lol. But it was worth it because the key was to leave my current job and become a nurse and I didn’t want to sacrifice working at my one job that wasn’t going anywhere and affect my ability to get my nursing degree.

I agree! It is way too hard to work full time and go to school full time. BUT it can be done but not without sacrificing some things. The best way to balance them both is to meticulously have everything scheduled out and not waste any minute doing anything pointless….like watching tv, surfing the web etc because you will need all the time you can. I think at first during nursing school you can work full time but once you start getting into the hard stuff you will have to cut back to part-time or prn.

You can do it because I know people who did but it was very hard and they struggled at times. I say in order to do it you will have to be very organized and make sure your job can work with you because you won’t be able to work the normal 8-5 hours because of classes and clinicals. The thing is you may be able to do it with ease because people are different in how they handle situations.
